Staff Reports

  • “To be honest, I don’t care because we can’t do anything about it. It’s useless getting mad and the protests are not going to change anything.” -Emma Rocha, sophomore.
  • “I think it is what it is. Hillary should have won and I hope Trump fixes our economy and takes back all the mean things he said to people” -Carolina Salinas, junior.
  • “Going into the 2016 presidental election, I was in shock that Hillary and Donald were the 2 candidates that America has chosen to run for election. But once I found out that Donald Trump won, I was worried for the future of America.” –Derek Nieves, senior.
  • “It’s all overwhelming to be honest, because at the end of the day America won’t be as great at they are promising to make it.” -Carli Berrios, sophomore.
  • “I definitely agree with Trump being president. It’s a reasonable win. He is the best candidate for the job and he’s the only one who wouldn’t take money from private investors like Hillary did. Hillary Clinton’s email investigation shows that she is a liar and [that] she will never admit to the truth.” -Nicolas Lopez, junior.
  • “I feel that the president should’ve been chosen by the popular vote instead of by the electoral college. Things would have been different.” -Rich Zephirin, senior.
  • “The voice of the people was silenced by the system; hear us for once.” -Lauren Martinez, senior.
  • “The result of the election was definitely a shocker. I knew it was a possibility that Trump could win but didn’t think it was actually going to happen. Now that he is going to be president I don’t know what to think, along with many people I’m petrified of what [may] happen.” -Nicole Valdivieso, senior.
  • “President-elect Trump will make America great again, and the people protesting need to realize that when Obama won, Republicans didn’t go out and disrespect America and those around them.” -Michael Etchells, sophomore.
  • “I personally think that Hillary would have benefitted me more. Donald Trump personally disrespected my family and it’s unfair that he’s going to take away the rights from the people who have worked harder than the actual citizens.” -Lauren Andrade, sophomore.
  • “Trump being elected president was definitely a surprise; it doesn’t really affect me on a personal level like it does for the Americans who are protesting. I think this election turned out awful… the United States has never been more divided in recent years. Honestly… both sides are being ignorant and childish in my opinion.” -Dylan Holland, senior.
  • “[The election] makes younger people want to vote more because people thought they didn’t have to worry, but in reality, every time someone says they’re not going to vote, it ends bad.” -Darnell Vean-Louis, junior.
  • “I did not like the results of this election.” -Megan De Souza, senior.
  • “I have high hopes for this country and who is running it. All that I can do is pray for the president-elect, hoping that he would make good choices and smart decisions. I see all of the protests and I pray that he will get that under control. I’m also very pleased, though, to see some change in Mr. Trump for the better. Other than that, I am glad the Republican party won.” -Maddison Lewis, freshman.
  • “I don’t agree at all and I’m against him. His view about abortion is not right and he calls punishment for it. He is not helpful and he is not trying to fix our economy.” Magalys Rivera, sophomore
  • “I’m tired of the election and glad that it’s over. I’m disappointed but it is what it is” -Sydney Briggs, senior.
  • “I don’t agree with the outcome. I was surprised because Hillary has more supporters than Trump.” -Diana Euseda, sophomore.
  • “I’m scared for immigrants, and anyone who isn’t straight. Trump supporters scare me as much as he does.” -Victoria Santacroce, senior.
  • “I believe that Trump was rightfully elected president. I supported him, and even if you don’t, I think it would be more respectful for everyone in America to respect the results. If you don’t like how America runs, specifically the electoral college, keep it to yourself because this is how it has been for two hundred years. Go Trump!” -Allison Collins, junior.
  • “My opinion is it wouldn’t matter who won the election, as long as the new president of the U.S. can lead and keep the reputation of the U.S. as a world power. As a heard the results, I thought Trump would not be a good president because of his ideas on deportation, repeal of health care, gender equality, etc. But for the past few days I’ve kept up with the news to see if he changes his mind, which he did. We will have to wait and see what Donald Trump will do.” -Lam Ho, senior.
  • “I thought it was too long and annoying and everyone just spoke too much.” -Kendra Mason, senior.
  • “The election did nothing but enhance our understanding that not everyone will believe the same thing.” -Luis Pujols, senior.

  • “We can’t do anything anymore, what’s done is done.” -Jasmine Mohammed, senior.
  • “I feel like people didn’t want a female president because we just had our first black president, and that would be too much progression.” -Franceline Amissant, senior.
  • “Hillary should have won, I do agree with some of the things Trump said but he should have dialed it back.” -Imani Ford, senior.
  • “I didn’t think he’d win but unfortunately he did.” -Jenika Guillaume, senior.
  • “I feel like Hillary is corrupted and I feel like Trump can pass laws because the senate and house are republican majority. I just feel like this is a lose lose situation.” -Christina Narcisse, junior.
  • “I think it was interesting to watch.Trump is lame but he won, so he obviously has something to offer.” -Pamela Joseph, sophomore.
  • “I am not happy with the results of this election.” -Oscar Paz, junior.

  • “The turnout for the election went exactly as I had hoped. Now we can carry out Trump’s policies to the fullest.” -Jonah Backensto, sophomore.
  • “In this previous presidential election, my opinion is that we were screwed either way. I wasn’t for either candidate.” –Katie Darcy, senior.
  • “Even though I share very few ideologies with President-Elect Trump, he won the election fair and square and worked really hard to get into that position he’s in right now. The riots going on as a result are detrimental to the reputation that America holds, and goes against the American perspective of transferring power peacefully. Trump has some huge shoes to fill but he should be given as fair of a chance as the other 44 presidents.” -Matthew Suarez, senior.
  • “I’m afraid being a minority racially and as a member of the lgbt community. Despite everything he’s been saying, he seems to have more democratic views, I hope that there will be a middle ground.” -Isabel Ruiz, senior.
  • “I was surprised when I heard the results of the election and Trump is definitely not my first choice but I hope he can prove us all wrong and do something good in these next 4 years.” -Danielle Hoxter, senior.
  • “This election, being the first that I was involved in, was shocking and disappointing. Personally, I wanted a woman to finally crack the glass ceiling separating men and women, but unfortunately that’s not what America chose. I respect our country’s democracy, but I don’t always agree with the choices our leaders make. I hope for America’s sake that the next four years are as “great” as Trump suggested. If not, I guess America will wise up and spend a long time recovering from his mistakes.” -Aubrey Dale, junior.
  • We can’t do anything anymore, whats done is done.” -Jasmine Mohammed, senior.
