Ryan’s Quarantine

It’s no surprise nowadays when there is coverage about the coronavirus on any type of media. It is talked about on literally every platform imaginable. This past month or so has not felt real in a sense, as this type of thing has not happened during my lifetime. The fact that specifically scares me about this virus is that I have the respiratory disease asthma, which could make the virus very fatal to my body. Due to this, I have taken many precautions when practicing social distancing and haven’t left the house since we were urged to stay home. This is very different from my usual routine, as I normally go out to eat, to visit friends, or to visit my girlfriend, but now I’m unable to do those for a while. It hasn’t been the best of times, but I have made sure to keep myself busy with some of the safer activities to participate in during quarantine.

Luckily, one of my main hobbies is playing video games so it’s not a very hard transition in terms of things that entertain me so I have been keeping myself busy. I’ve actually been playing games with my friends more often than usual, and I genuinely enjoy it. One very annoying thing about this whole situation is that I don’t have my clarinet or saxophone to play, since I was not at school the Friday they announced that we should stay home. More and more, I regret not having my instruments to play.

This year has been full of confusion for everyone, and it’s sad that my senior year has to end with me cooped up in my house for the foreseeable future due to my disease. I seriously don’t feel safe going anywhere, and that’s not how I want to be living right now, but hopefully this situation will be resolved sooner than I have anticipated.
