Chiefs Student Leader: Macie Binda
September 12, 2019
Being involved in various after-school activities such as the NHS, Secretary of NEHS, and President of SNHS, senior Macie Binda has recently been offered a position into FAU’s HCOP Student Leadership. As a student leader, Macie has the responsibilities of assisting FAU medical faculty during their presentations, working directly with medical student volunteers, and guiding and mentoring Bridge To Medicine participants. Starting September 7th, Macie will attend FAU sessions every Saturday until November 16. She was motivated to apply for the position in hopes to share her knowledge of the program to first-year participants. When she first participated in the program as a student during her sophomore year, Macie won an award for the best overall college essay and best group presentation.
As any student during their senior year, Macie has many responsibilities such as attending high school, classes at FAU, volunteering, and working at Rapids Waterpark. When asked how she has the time to manage all of these activities, she admitted that without her planner and organization skills, she would not be able to function as easily. Bringing her planner everywhere she goes, Macie has been able to accomplish many goals as a 12th grader and hopes to continue this path to become a biomedical engineer in the future.
