Diana Hurtado is currently a senior at Santaluces. She holds her academics to very high standards. In the summer going into her junior year, Hurtado began dual enrollment at Palm Beach State College. She currently has three college classes under her belt and decided to pack her senior schedule with two more classes. “I plan to take more classes at Palm Beach State during the second semester” she claims. She enjoys the opportunity of free college given by the School District of Palm Beach County.

She currently holds the position of co-captain of the Santaluces Color Guard. “Every member is practically a family member to me” she exclaims. Hurtado has been with the team for two years now and is extremely excited to see what the new year has to offer. She also has a background of dance which has helped her tremendously in the sport. She started dancing when she was three and decided to focus solely on color guard when she entered the sport at the end of her freshman year.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking, exercising, and binge-watching shows. One of her favorite shows is the drama “Orange Is the New Black”. She also enjoys learning more about her Colombian heritage through cooking and her mom.  Ms. Hurtado was born in Colombia and immigrated to America almost 30 years ago. Diana uses her mom as an inspiration for her work ethics, “She’s the one woman that has taken care of me my entire life. I wouldn’t want it any other way, she’s hard-working and driven no matter the situation”.

After high school, Hurtado plans to attend Florida International University with a major in biochemistry. Her dream job is to become a forensic pathologist, “There’s a long road ahead of me but I plan to stick with it”, she states. After gaining a bachelor’s degree in science she plans to head to Detroit, Michigan to attend Wayne State University for their prestigious medical program.
