Meets Daniyah Donald. She is a junior here at Santaluces High School. She has a 3.6 unweighted grade point average, and she plans on getting Bright Futures through the AICE diploma. Daniyah does track and weightlifting. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Black Student Union, Health Occupations Students of America, Best Buddies, and First Priority. Daniyah has taken a series of AP and AICE courses while at Santaluces. Her dream university is Louisiana State University. I asked Daniyah some questions, today and here is her response.

“Very joyful and funny.”
What’s the biggest academic or personal challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?
“I felt alone in school due to an isolation problem I have, but I got over it quickly by trying to adjust to everything and started checking up on others as well.”
How do you balance academics with extracurriculars, family, and personal time?
“Usually, I set timers based on each class and if I get work regularly in that class. Currently, I don’t have any timers, but I do make a list of things I need to do. I make sure my school work and my grades are steady before I make time to do anything else personal.”
What are you looking forward to this school year?
“I’m looking forward to a 3.8 or 4.0 GPA and getting a job.”
Do you have any interests or hobbies outside of school?
“Out of school, I’m interested in Church and reading my Bible, and my man.”
Who has influenced your academic journey the most?
“My mom has influenced my academic journey.”
Any plans after high school?
“I plan on being a dermatologist or a chef after high school.”
