The 90th Annual Academy Awards honored the best in film, while the red carpet before the show served the most stunning looks. The Oscars are known for being a more formal event and the stars do not come to play when it comes to the fashion looks. The looks ranged from elegant and regal to daring and out there with film stars young and old showing off their best treads at Hollywood’s biggest night. Here are the top fashion moments of the night broken down into 2 tiers and represents the two moods the celebs were bring to the red carpet.

TIER 1: Elegance

Satin, Chiffon, and metallic glitter fabrics brought simplistic elegance to the red carpet. Long draped looks with exposed shoulders made an appearance on stars like Zendaya and Taraji. While textual details on Lupita’s one shoulder, warrior-esc dress showed the diversity of formal looks on the carpet. Nicole and Danai’s satin numbers meshed together geometric structuring that creates shape to their bodies.

 

TIER 2: Extravagance

From Andra’s Marie Antoinette inspired look to Agnes decked out in a full Gucci ensomable- and wearing it well.Rita Moreno’s nostalgic look recreated her same Oscars’s gown she wore in 1962 when she won her first academy award. While Adam Rippon changed the menswear game with this bondage inspired suited equipped with chest harness and shoulder buckles.
