With Prom being less than eight days away, now is the time where everyone is rushing to ensure that they have bought the dresses, shoes, suits, jewelry, makeup and more to ensure that they are ready for one of the potential highlights of their high school careers. Since many people are checking things off last minute, there can be a sense of stress as a person may feel as if nothing will be ready in time, and that their plans won’t fall through. Prom is something that many of us have dreamt about from a young age, and that idea of the “perfect day” may very well be a significant reason as to why so many of us have such high expectations for one single night.
In the days leading up to prom, some may stay laser focused on their expectations, forgetting to embrace the moment. Often, we forget that these milestones only come once in life, and the time is now to fully immerse yourself in them, because all you will be left with are memories. This lesson doesn’t only just apply to prom, but other aspects of life. It is so integral to appreciate each moment, as we often forget in the stress of every day situations.
Being in one place surrounded by people you may know and care about is something that we will all be lucky to experience. We’ll be even more lucky if we are able to soak the moment in, and actually enjoy it. Not remembering to do this is the reason why most don’t even enjoy prom even though they spent so much money just to be there.
To save yourself some stress, try to plan ahead and don’t think about it too much. At the end of the day, prom isn’t about the dress you wear, but the experience you’ll have.
