Homecoming is right around the corner and this year’s theme is Chiefs Dancing through the Decades. Monday is M.C. Hammer Monday. Tuesday is Tubular Tuesday. Wednesday there is no school. Thursday is that’s groove Thursday, and Friday is spirit day.

Monday is all about the 90s and early 2000s. During this time, sitcom tv-shows became extremely popular including Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Friends, Family Matters, and Saved by the Bell.

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air brought bold prints and statement accessories while Saved by the Bell brought combat boots.

Also popular during this time was athleisure, with everyone wearing tracksuits. Band tees, platform shoes, and chokers or chains also grew in the 90s with more people following the trend of grunge. Plaid and checkered print grew thanks to the movie Clueless.

What can you wear for this day: tracksuits, animal print, denim overalls, bright shirts, black leather jackets, striped shirts and sweaters, polo shirts and graphic t-shirts,

Tuesday is all about the 80s.

Checkered vans grew in popularity in the 80s and were seen everywhere. Shoulder pads and neon also became popular. The movie Flashdance brought dance wear and activewear to the forefront of fashion in the 80s.

What to wear: Anything neon, leg warmers, sweatbands, tracksuits with windbreakers, acid wash jeans, or funky patterns.

Thursday is 60s/ 70s day

Bohemian fashion grew to its peak in the early 70s, while the later 70s brought the disco era.

What to wear: Bell bottom jeans or flared pants, striped sweaters, and shirts or other printed shirts, fringe vests, round sunglasses, shift dresses, matching sets, gloves, go-go boots, and anything pastel.

For Friday, each class should wear their class color.

  • Freshmen: White
  • Sophomores: Red
  • Juniors: Black
  • Seniors: All colors.
