My Visit to Florida State University
March 29, 2017
Four years ago, being a senior and applying to colleges seemed so far away to me. However, high school quickly flew by and before I knew it, I was stressing about SAT scores and college essays. The application I stressed over the most was Florida State University, the college that has always been my first choice; and on December 8th I found out that I was admitted.
I visited their campus for the first time on Friday. I wanted to see what student life was like and find out more information about the school. I may be biased, but the campus was so beautiful and had so much green space. It’s a large school but compact at the same time; it takes 20 minutes to walk from one side to the other. My tour guide was a student ambassador at the school and she took us on an hour walking tour and stopped and gave us information at each stop. Listening to her talk about the school made me even more excited to be an upcoming student. The school was really clean and it was definitely the stereotypical college campus that I’ve seen in movies. I also got to tour the residence halls and students talked about what life was like living there.
One of my favorite things was the dining options on campus. They had several of my favorite places such as Chick-Fil-A and Chili’s. Tallahassee in general has restaurants that aren’t down here like Whataburger. The other cool part was the fact that they have 7 Starbucks locations on campus for a quick caffeine fix.
Overall, my family and I were very impressed by the beauty of Florida State and what it had to offer. College seemed so far away at first but now it’s right around the corner, and I cannot wait to be a Seminole.
