Boynton Beach just got a whole lot spicier. The Nashville-style hot chicken American fast food restaurant chain, Dave’s Hot Chicken, finally opened last Friday, April 18th at 320 N. Congress Ave, Suite A. Locals of Boynton Beach have been anticipating the grand opening of the chain for days now, since the store popped up a few weeks ago. Me (Dan) and Alex had the chance to go to the soft opening (a trial run the day before the grand opening), and we will be giving you our opinions of the food and the ones of our friends who tagged along!

Dan's Review

Personally, Dave’s Hot Chicken is my top fast food chicken spot. The experience I had that day cannot be replicated anywhere else. I got a mild number three, which consists of one chicken tender and a slider with fries. The spice level of the chicken is perfect, so if you’re looking for an enjoyable meal, get mild.

But what makes it so great is the sauce, I don’t know how I’d describe it, but it’s not like any Raising Canes or Chick-fil-A sauce I have tried. It’s amazing though, especially if you dip the chicken in the sauce and add honey on top, that’s got to be the top 5 fast food combos of all time.

The chicken is also very crispy and juicy on the inside, and doesn’t even get soggy after being in the box for a while. The fries are also perfect, not the best, but they’re nicely seasoned with the spices and very crispy. Strangely, their pickles are also very good; they’re crinkle cut and add a nice texture to the chicken when you combine the two. Overall, I give Dave’s Hot Chicken a 9/10.

Alex's Review

I made sure to go as soon as possible, which is why we decided to go during the soft launch held on Thursday. Regarding my initial thoughts, I thought the place looked amazing with a cool modern look, as well as cool art on the walls, creating a great atmosphere.

I ordered a number 3 with a mild slider and an extra hot slider. The slider was enjoyable and had good flavor. I also really enjoyed their fries and personally thought it was one of their best items. The seasoning was really good, and the softness of the fries paired well with the meal, making it really enjoyable.

Now ordering the extra hot was not the best idea, and I knew that going in. I got hold of it to see how spicy it was, and it was that and more. After my first initial bite, I thought I could handle it, but then it kicked in and my tongue was begging for water. I was exhaling in and out for the majority of the time so much so that i didn’t finish the tender. It was indeed EXTRA HOT!

Overall, my thoughts on the establishment were very positive, and I think it’s definitely worth a visit, however based on all the videos and talks I’ve heard about the restaurant, I do think it’s a little overrated. It’s good, but not as extraordinary as it was hyped up to be.
