Inside Varsity Football: Week 8

Matthew Leto, Sports Editor

The Chiefs played Atlantic Eagles this past week with a 34-18 loss. The Varsity football team will play at home this Thursday against the Spanish River Sharks. This game is special for the Chiefs, as it is senior night. Last season, the Chiefs were defeated 25-20.

Spanish River has victories against Cardinal Newman, Suncoast and John I. Leonard. The Chiefs have a good chance of grabbing their first victory on the season. Sophomore quarterback Arthur Gray Jr. or Senior Marquise Jackson will likely start under center, and may have a fantastic night passing to offensive weapons Bradley Toussaint and Kendyl Williams.

Defensively, the Chiefs will attempt to shut down the Shark’s offense. Additionally, Seniors Raymond Bailey, and Miguel Ebersold, should contribute heavily and keep the Shark’s offensive struggling Friday night.

Senior Christopher Jean chimed in on this week’s game.

“We plan on playing our best game,” Jean said. ” We are well prepared and have installed some new plays to keep them on edge.”
