Water Polo: Broncos Beat Chiefs

The girls water polo team squared off against the Palm Beach Central Broncos, Friday night. The Chiefs dropped a thrilling game 9-13. Freshman Emily Black and senior Anastacia Gonzalez had three goals each.
In the first quarter, the Chiefs scored two goals, both goals were by Gonzalez. Junior Sharon Ferrer made two killer saves, but the Chiefs trailed the Broncos 2-3. In the second quarter, Black took over, scoring two of three goals scored by the Chiefs. Senior Haley Hinkofer played a little too physical, leading to an exclusion penalty that allowed the Broncos to score before the half. At the half, the Chiefs trailed 5-7.
Coming out of the half, freshman Tyler Lasky nailed a long goal that sent the crowd to cheers. Black also scored a goal,but had an exclusion penalty because of her physical play. The Chiefs trailed 7-9 after three quarters. By the fourth quarter, the Chiefs struggled on defense allowing four goals, while only scoring two. The game ended 9-13, in favor of the Broncos.
The Chiefs may have lost, but took a step in the right direction for a first year water polo team, scoring 9 goals.
Lasky weighed on the intense showdown with the Broncos.
“It was an intense game,” Lasky said. “We kept it close all game, and matched their physical play, pound for pound.”
