2013 Snowball Dance
The gym was transformed into a Winter Wonderland for the holidays, with Christmas trees hanging on the walls, snowflakes coming from the ceiling, and gingerbread men sprinkling the room. This can only mean one thing; the Snowball Dance has swung around for another year at Santaluces.
Special needs students from Santaluces, Park Vista, John I. Leonard, and Boynton Beach High School filed into the gym for the annual Snowball Dance. The dance was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, and it was extremely similar to the homecoming dance, including the same food – pizza and cookies – and the same music from a professional DJ, the only difference being is that the Snowball Dance celebrates the holidays.
“It was a huge success, H-U-G-E,” said Ms. Monahan, SGA adviser. “We put a smile on their faces, and it helped them feel just like everyone else.”
SGA students, along with Mr. Carruthers as Santa and Mr. Livingston as an elf, danced and partied with the guests. Carruthers gave out candy canes and a memorable moment for special needs students during the holiday season.
