Sarah’s Quarntine

As someone who is generally a social butterfly, quarantine has not been as bad as I thought it would be. Though I have lost touch with a lot of my friends, I keep contact with my closest friends with communication-based apps such as Discord and Skype. My time on calls with my friends has also sadly destroyed my sleep schedule. Some days I’ll wake up at seven and others I won’t be awake till close to noon. Unfortunately, I have also spent way more time snacking than I ever have before, with my mom constantly stocking the pantry with chocolate covered pretzels. However, I have tried to remain healthy by exercising at home for the first time, with biking slowly making its way into my regular weekly routine.

I’ve also found time to explore some of my old hobbies. I picked up drawing again and have begun to create pieces for my friends. My favorite being one I made of one of my closest friends in her prom dress. I’ve also touched my piano for the first time since middle school. I am currently trying to learn Piano Man by Billy Joel. At some point during this quarantine I also hope to begin learning to play guitar using one of my dad’s old acoustics, something I’ve wanted to do for a while.

The worst part of quarantine for me has to be the online school. Being at home makes it extremely hard for me to focus on my tasks without getting distracted by a million things around me. This is one thing I’ll have to adjust to and hopefully learn to stop my horrible procrastination.

Lastly, a large part of me is worried about my parents, who both have already experienced hour and wage cuts from their jobs and I hope that, through quarantine, the spread of the virus is contained.
