The Journey: College Edition

Since before the start of my senior year, I have been aware of the struggles that come from having to choose a college to attend. I have been very indecisive throughout my life, that is why I was having trouble picking a school. I did not want to later be regretful of my choice. However, after taking a tour of Tallahassee Community College and signing my apartment lease, I know for a fact that I will be content.

For the last couple of months, I have been all over the place. I had no idea where I wanted to go. At first, I had my mind set on moving to Georgia. However, even after being accepted by Georgia State University, my heart was not there anymore. I love to visit Georgia; however, if I decided to attend GSU, I would be committing to 4 years of my life. After this, I knew that I wanted to stay in Florida. So, I decided to apply to Florida State University, after touring it 3 times, I knew this was the school I wanted to attend. But, sometimes life does not go how we want it to, I got rejected.

When I received the rejection letter, I felt my whole world caving in. I became stubborn and dismissed all of my other acceptance letters. I was determined to stay at Palm Beach State for 2 years and make up a plan during that time. I was not happy with this decision but I saw no other option.

However, a friend of mine kept talking about her plans. She decided to go to TCC and also rent an apartment. After hearing all of this, I did some research of my own. I looked up the cost of attendance, job availability in the area, and of course, rent. After seeing that everything was under my budget, I applied.

Now, I am a proud Eagle and cannot wait for moving day (August 16). If you have still not reached the end of your college decision, do not stress too much. It is okay to take a little bit of extra time than the rest of your classmates. Everything always works out at the end.
