“I decided to attend Florida State University because it made my mom really mad: she’s a University of Miami fan and FSU is 400 plus miles away. I do not encourage students to use this method to select a college. I ended up getting really lucky because FSU was the perfect place for me to become the person I wanted to be: independent, strong, intelligent, and driven. I met my husband there, I met the majority of my current friends there- my professors were outstanding. I still keep in touch with a few. I was a tour guide when I was a student – I had to memorize a 17-page script and drive people around in this big, old, clunky van. Every single thing I did, FSU challenged me, from living on my own and all the problems that entails (roommate drama, bills, laundry) to selecting a major (I changed mine three times). I’m constantly told that I’m obsessed with FSU; of course I am, a huge chunk of the person I am came from my time there, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Nicole Kalpin, Staff Writer
Hello, my name is Nicole Kalpin, I'm a senior, and this is my first year writing for the newspaper. I've attended Santaluces since I was a freshman. Most often I'll be spending my time reading, writing, or talking with my friends. I absolutely love listening to music, my favorite being from the Classic Rock genre. I can be described as a quiet person but I can be anything but when you get to know me. After I graduate, I hope to pursue a career in audiology or education.
