Captain America is the most entertaining of all Marvel superheroes. Captain America: The First Avenger, for me, met all the criteria of an entertaining action movie, and I have the nearly $177 millon made in ticket and DVD sales to back up my argument.
Compared to the other Marvel movies, such as Thor, Captain America movies have a more complex storyline. Taking a modified super soldier and intertwining him with an actual time in history gives it a lot more substance.
The same goes for the sequel – and no worries, there will be no spoilers in this article.
“Sequels are never as good as the original,” is a phrase that typically I can agree with. However, the Captain America sequel was equally as phenomenal as the one before it.
Set in modern day Washington D.C., Steve Rogers is now using his superhuman abilities to fulfill missions set out by S.H.I.E.L.D., an espionage and law-enforcement agency in the Marvel comics. The only issue: there’s a mysterious assassin, called the Winter Soldier, and he’s just as strong as Captain America.
The action packed into this one film is outstanding; the acting is incredible, of course; and the twists and turns the story takes are jaw-dropping. And most critics would agree – Rolling Stone Magazine raves it’s better than Marvel’s The Avengers, which is really saying something.
So at your earliest convenience, add “seeing Captain America 2″ to your to-do list.
