Ever find yourself wondering if other people are as miserable as you? Or maybe you feel like you’re living in the wrong generation? If you’re like any normal teenager, you have days where you feel like you’re being completely sucked into oblivion.
How else are you supposed to feel when everything around you is coming at you so fast?
The Edge of Seventeen shows a great representation of what it’s like to be a teenager trying to figure life out while you have no idea what’s happening around you. Hailee Stienfield plays Nadine, an average seventeen year old girl, who is incredibly awkward and who is filled with self-hatred and anxiety.
Nadine’s life takes a completely depressing turn when her best friend falls in love with her perfect older brother. During this, she finds solidarity in her jerk of a teacher, Mr. Burner, played by Woody Harrelson. Filled with fear and confusion, she tries multiple outlets that help her forget about what she faces at home.
The Edge of Seventeen is a rollercoaster of emotions, the film contains comedic scenes that will have you dying of laughter, to moments where all you want to do is hug Nadine because you can relate to her devastation. This movie is so authentic that you will most likely find yourself in Nadine; I know I did.
You will love this movie if you ever feel like life just is not all that it’s talked up to be. You will find so much comfort in knowing that you are not the only one who is facing obstacles in life.
If you’re a teenager, you will love knowing that there’s a movie you can find yourself in. Even if you are not a teenager, you will appreciate having a movie that gives you a glimpse as to what teens have to go through.
