Today marks the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s “I have a dream” speech. It is often looked back on as one of the most successful and popular speeches of the civil rights movement, and every year, many states pay their respects to the fallen civil rights leader. From Washington where the speech was given to the far reaches of Alaska, participants will ring cow bells along with church bells to recognize Mr. King’s moving phrase of “let freedom ring.”
