This summer our cafeteria will be renovated and reconstructed by the School District into a food court. Only one school each year is picked to have their cafeteria transformed. Our normal cafeteria will be changed into a food court, similar to those at Forest Hill and Atlantic High schools. The reconstruction will start Friday, June 5, and will end during the first week of August.
This change is a way to provide students with healthier, more tasty lunch options, said Principal Mrs. Robinson. Meal prices will remain the same, and as long as they register again in the fall, those who are eligible will still be able to get free or reduced lunch, she said.
With one change comes another, and Santaluces will not be providing free lunch at our campus during the summer. With construction starting shortly after summer starts, Freedom Shores will be giving students the free lunches.
There will be a brand new schedule next year, though what it will look like is still in discussion. However, what we do know is that we will be having three lunches instead of our current two.
“It’s going to give better options to the students,” said Ms. Robinson. “This guarantees that students will have time to eat and will be able to eat healthy.”
