In my opinion, “What I Was Made For” is genuinely beautiful.
The way I understand the song, she’s having trouble understanding her identity and her purpose. She doesn’t truly know herself and is still trying to find out. Listening to the song relates to my life because, as a child growing up, I had no worries and was happy. Growing up, I started to find out who I was, and I still am. Life can be very stressful, and sometimes there are hard moments.
This song made me reflect on my own life, asking myself what I am truly made for. The lyrics are so raw and emotional. She poured her heart and soul into this track. When she said ” When did it end, I’m sad again,” to me, it’s like she had temporary euphoria, her happiness never stays. And it’s hard because she’s trying to be something she’s not. She can’t stay happy all the time like Barbie, what if she’s not a happy person? She forgets to be happy, and she just dwells in her sadness but still has hope that she can be saved from herself and finally find her purpose.
The lyrics of the song are thought-provoking and carry a sense of vulnerability. The theme invites listeners to reflect on their purpose and existence.
