As part of the school’s AICE curriculum, Ms. Bower offers a class called Travel & Tourism! For the second paper (one of the exams), every student is put in groups to plan events and carry them through! Some of our upperclassmen may remember seeing them last year, and I’m happy to announce they have returned! Here are some of the events you can look forward to this week!
Cruise Ship Experience:
Join AICE Travel & Tourism for a splash on Thursday the 22nd with the Cruise Ship Experience! They will be located in the Little Theater, so if you want something to do during your lunch period, check it out!
Asian Culture Showcase:
If you come down to the cafeteria during your lunch on Thursday, you can learn some fascinating things about Asia! Their group has researched and will teach you about Asian streetwear, snacks, and even the origins of Hello Kitty! If you want, they’ve even brought some free snack samples for you to try! They will be doing this on both lunches this Thursday, so come hungry for knowledge and samples.
Caribbean Tours:
One great thing about Florida is that you don’t have to sail too far to see some beautiful countries, and lucky for all of Santaluces, you won’t have to sail at all! On Thursday, you can come to the front of the Lecture Hall throughout lunch to learn more, and maybe get a reward! The countries featured are Haiti, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic, so stop by!
Games and Candies Around the World:
While there are lots of things you can do in the comfort of your own home, some of the best experiences are all around the globe! Some amazing members of AICE Travel & Tourism have brought a few of these to you right here on campus. On Friday the 23rd, find your way to the front of the Little Theater during lunch to play games and get candy, all from countries like Mexico, Germany, and Korea!
Bioluminescent Beach Travel:
As many on campus know, beaches are one of the best things about Florida, and some Travel & Tourism students decided to bring some of the fun to the Little Theater! In their words, “Join us for a fun travel event filled with games, candy, and prizes! Come and enjoy!”
3D Models and Scavenger Hunt:
On Friday, February 23rd, you can visit the Little Theater and learn about some of Europe’s most famous landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Rome’s Colosseum, and the Brandenburg Gate! These aren’t just photos either, these are 3D printed models, fully painted and detailed! If you’d like, you can also enter a free raffle to win smaller metallic versions of your favorite model. While you are there, try to search for the hidden coins, because if you are one of the first five in your lunch to find and take a photo of them, you’ll earn a prize!
Those are only some of the fun things happening from Wednesday to Friday this week, so wander around campus to find and appreciate the AICE students’ hard work, and live a little these coming days!
