In today’s society, meal prices have been increasing over the years. The popularity of meal deals has been skyrocketing throughout many fast food franchises to accommodate the high demand for low-cost food. Places such as McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s are much known for their take on this demand, the five-dollar meal deal. We will be comparing the three franchises five-dollar meal deals to find out which is better.
We will be judging off of two bases: taste and value. I will have two subjects review the food so it is fair. Subject A is a fast food fan, and Subject B is not a fan of fast food.
Mcdonalds
First we start off with the golden arches, McDonalds. The McDonald’s five-dollar meal deal includes a choice of either a McDouble or McChicken, a small french fry, a 4-piece nugget, and a small drink. The total price of the meal is $5.08. Off of the rip, the subjects liked how they offered two different sandwiches. However, we had them try the McDouble meal since a double hamburger is constant throughout the three 5-dollar meal deals.
This is what the subjects had to say about the taste of the food. Subject A: “solid, generic fast food burger.” Subject B: “It’s actually pretty decent for 5 dollars.” Next, we moved on to the 4-piece nuggets. Subject A: “the best part of the meal; even though it’s just 4, the nuggets never fail to make my day.” Subject B: “This doesn’t look like chicken; how could anyone eat this?” Finally the fries and drink, Subject A: “I’d honestly prefer more fries, but still, it’s 5 dollars, and the fries are still great anyways; the drink size is perfect though.” Subject B: “Too salty; they give you this drink just to wash off the salt.”.
We will announce all the final ratings at the end.
Burger King
The next day I brought the subjects to Burger King. The Burger King five-dollar meal deal includes a choice of either a Chicken Jr., Whopper Jr., or Bacon Cheeseburger, small fries, a 4-piece nugget, and a small drink. Both subjects became excited for the wider variety that McDonald’s didn’t offer, but however we have to stick to the standards, so we had them eat the Whopper Jr. meal. The total price for this meal is $5.07.
This is what the subjects had to say about the taste of the food. Subject A: “Even though it’s one less patty than McDonald’s, the toppings make up for it; I definitely prefer toppings over more meat.” Subject B agreed. Both subjects also agreed on poor-tasting fries, “very bland,” both noted. However, Subject A disliked the nuggets when Subject B liked them. Subject A stated “very soggy, no crisp,” but subject B stated, “I really like these chicken nuggets; I don’t feel terrible after eating them!” They both agreed on the drink being a “regular, normal drink that does the job.”.
Wendy’s
On the final day, I bring the subjects to Wendy’s. The Wendy’s five-dollar meal deal includes a choice of either a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, Crispy Chicken BLT, or Double Stack Burger, small fries, a 4-piece nugget, and a small drink or a small frosty. Both subjects were not aware of the included small frosty; Subject A noted, “This might be my winner.”; Subject B noted, “Indeed.”. The total price for the meal is $5.10. Like previously, to stick to the standards, we had the subjects eat the double stack meal and with the frosty rather than the drink because it was the preferred beverage from the subjects.
These are their thoughts. Subjects A and B both really enjoyed the taste of the Wendy’s burger; however, this is what subject A had to say: “The taste is the best, but it’s not filling at all.” Subject B, on the other hand, said, “This burger is the most quality of them all; this is a scam for 5 dollars.” On to the nuggets. Subject A said, “A classic nugget, nothing too crazy.” Subject B said, “This is a mix of McDonald’s and Burger King nuggets.” Both subjects were thrilled to see the portion of fries that were given; it was seemingly a lot more than the other restaurants. Then last, the frosty. Both subjects really enjoyed the sweet treat, with Subject A stating, “The other two deals are basically identical; to be better is to be different.” Subject B agreed.
The Results
After gathering all the ratings, here is what we have.
Subject A
McDonald’s: 9/10, “most filling while still tasting great. Definitely the best value for most food.”.
Burger King: 6/10, “same as McDonalds, but the nuggets and fries weren’t as good.”
Wendy’s: 8/10, “Best tasting but least filling because the Burger was much smaller; frosty makes it up, but I do prioritize the Burger.”
Thus, Subject A thinks McDonald’s is the best in value and Wendy’s is the best in taste but prefers McDonald’s because it fills you up the most, and he states, “More food for a small price is the best.”
Subject B
McDonald’s: 5/10, “I felt terrible after eating this; it was very greasy and salty.”.
Burger King: 4/10, “Tasted terrible, doesn’t fill you up because it’s inedible.”
Wendy’s: 7/10, “Definitely the bang for your buck; taste the best; it’s something you can actually finish and feel good for the price.”
Thus, Subject B believes Wendy’s is the best in taste and value and thinks 5 dollars is a steal for something of its quality and because of the frosty.
Conclusion
Thus, you may now see that Wendy’s has the best tasting deal and McDonald’s has the most filling deal.
