Recently I had the chance to interview Ms.Daniel. She’s one of the two french teachers at our school. It was a lovely experience to get to know her and see what made her the teacher she is today. I asked her a few questions to get a deeper look into who she is.

1.What do you like the most about teaching?

Ms. Daniel: I like empowering students, helping them make good choices, and just reaching out to students overall.

2. How long have you been teaching?

Ms.Daniel: I have been teaching at Santaluces since 2019.  Prior to my teaching here at Santaluces, I started off as a language facilitator but I was often used as a student aid. So I would say I have been teaching since 2006, if you take into account the time I spent as a student aid.

3. Is there anything you don’t like about teaching?

Mrs.Daniel: Grading. It’s not fun, but I have to do it. But I enjoy teaching.

4. Is there anything else you wanted to do besides teaching?

Mrs.Daniel: Oh yeah, teaching was one of the things I wanted to do when I was younger. I wanted to become a singer or actress and many other things.

5. What do you like to do outside of school?

Mrs.Daniel: Now my life has changed a lot, so my main focus now is to just go to work and take care of my son. But whenever I can, I like to just sit down at a restaurant that has live music because I love music. I love salsa music and rarely I’ll even dance a bit.

6. What do you like the most about teaching French?

Mrs.Daniel: Well, teaching French is my way of giving back to my country, France. I think I would have felt that way about any language but it just happened to be French as it’s my native language. It’s a blessing I get to share it with my students.

7. If you weren’t a teacher what would you be doing instead?

Mrs.Daniel: I would probably be a humanitarian or a diplomat. I would do something that has to do with helping people since that has always been my true passion since I was a child. I like helping others and motivating people, both things come pretty natural to me.

8. What are some fun facts about you?

Mrs.Daniel: Some things you might not know about me are that I used to sing a lot and released two albums. I also have published a book.

Interviewing Madame Daniel was fun and interesting, I never knew she did so much outside of school. If you  want to learn French you can always stop by and say hi to her in room 1130.
