“My most memorable memory, I guess you should say, is the first day that I scrubbed into surgery. I [am] in a program at Bethesda Hospital, and I have been volunteering there since 9th grade and they progressively moved me up in position until I worked in the Admission and Recovery Unit at their heart hospital. The manager of the whole hospital asked what I wanted to be and I hinted at cardiology and he told me ‘you have to see a surgery.’ I got the opportunity to scrub into an aortic valve replacement, which is an open heart surgery, and I got to stand next to the surgeon and anesthesiologist. It was really amazing because I got to obviously see surgery in the raw and I got to learn so much, which showed me what kind of career I want for myself.”

Olivia Moore, Managing Editor
Hello! My name is Olivia and I'm a senior here at Santaluces. This is my first year in newspaper, and I'm the Managing Editor here on the Tribe, as well as the Opinion Editor. Some of my passions include sleeping, Tumblr, and crying over Grey's Anatomy. I'm a sarcastic feminist who loves helping those around me and I hope to one day make a difference in people's lives. Although I haven't set my goal on a university quite yet, I hope to major in psychology and minor in sociology in hopes of one day becoming a counseling psychologist. On top of this, I hope to somehow incorporate writing and journalism into my life as I love to express my opinions and thoughts about the world around me.
