Everyone’s favorite forgetful fish is back.
On November 10, the much-anticipated trailer for the sequel to Finding Nemo was released to the public through the Youtube channel TheEllenShow. Finding Nemo is the 31st highest-grossing film of all time, and it earned $936 million worldwide in 2003.
Finding Dory takes place six months after Finding Nemo, and the trailer begins with Dory asleep and saying, “Don’t cry mommy, don’t cry.”
The trailer sets the plot; Dory remembers things from her childhood and goes out to find her family. The logos, the music, and even a few of the old characters make an appearance to allow nostalgia for those who have been patiently waiting for the sequel.
Andrew Stanton, the writer and director of Finding Nemo, makes a return for Finding Dory with a new co-director and writing team.
The trailer is currently exceeding 16 million views and is receiving positive feedback from both critics and the public. The movie is expected to be released on June 17, 2016.
