Top 5 Moments at the the Golden Globes
The red carpet was rolled out Sunday, January 10, for the 73rd Golden Globes. Stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Taraji P. Henson, and Channing Tatum all walked the famous carpet. The night kicked off award season in film and television.
The stars ranging from A-list actors, to action stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, all joined under the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills for drinks, dinner, and hopes of winning a golden globe.
Here are the 5 top moments at the Golden Globes
- Ricky Gervais Hosting– Ricky Gervais held nothing back on his fourth time hosting this year’s award show. The comedian’s opening monologue poked fun at all celebrities there or not. He even praised Caitlyn Jenner only after he talked about her transition stating, “I’ve changed. Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously. Now Caitlyn Jenner, of course. What a year she’s had. She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes.” He then touched on a sensitive subject involving Jenner saying, “She didn’t do a lot for women drivers, but you can’t have everything, can ya?”Aside from Jenner, he mostly poked fun at himself.
- “Cookies for everyone tonight!”-Taraji P. Henson won her first golden globe for her role as Cookie on the hit show Empire. After they announced her name for best actress in a dramatic TV series, Henson grabbed a handful of cookies from her table and proceeded to hand them out to some of the most prodigious people in show biz, like Leonardo DiCaprio.
- Lady Gaga Wins Big– This was very unexpected, best one of the sweetest moments of the night. Lady Gaga won best actress in a TV miniseries or TV movie for her performance on FX’s, “American Horror Story: Hotel.” Her tearful acceptance speech was inspiring and she called it,”one of the greatest moments of my life.”
- “Mr.Robot” Wins Two Golden Globes-The critically acclaimed show won big at this years golden globes taking home best TV drama and best supporting TV actor for Christian Slater’s role as Rami Malek’s TV dead father.
- Stallone’s Knockout Role– Sylvester Stallone won for his legendary role in “Creed.”He thanked his family and then said, “I want to thank my imaginary friend Rock Balboa for being the best friend I ever had.”
