“The Watcher” is a Netflix thriller/mysterious series that was released recently on October 13, 2022. It is based on a true story about the Broaddus family, who went through these events. This series features well-known actors Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts.
This movie entails the story of the Brannock family, who moved from an apartment in New York, to the suburbs of Westfield, New Jersey.
Interested in purchasing a house, the family attends an open house at 657 Boulevard, where Nora, the mother, comes across the realtor, Karen who happens to be an old friend of hers. Although this family wasn’t struggling tremendously financially, Dean, the father, had to take risks in order to afford the house, which meant taking out all their savings money in order to pay for the house.
The family really loved the house and believed that no other house was more breathtaking than the one at 657 Boulevard.
A few weeks later, the family finally moves into their dream house.
As they start becoming more comfortable in their new home, Dean and Nora, and their two children Ellie and Carter enjoy the house even more. However, one day, Ellie starts hearing music playing upstairs. This music starts playing out of nowhere, and they didn’t think anything of it that much, so they dismissed it. Little did they know, these strange occurrences would lead to eerie letters coming to their home, and more uncalled-for events.
A few days later, the family receives a letter from someone who refers to themselves as “The Watcher.” The letter welcomes them to the neighborhood, and states that they have been watching the house for decades now since it is “the subject of their family.” They also threaten to kidnap their children and said that greed has brought them to purchase the house.
Feeling very weird about this letter, the couple reports this to the police, who say that this may be a prank, and for them not to worry. However, Detective Chamberland, the leading detective on the case did say that they can run DNA to find out whose DNA it is on the letters.
One day after eating dinner, Carter wanted to try out the dumbwaiter where he found Jasper, their neighbor, in the dumbwaiter. Dean drags him out of the house yelling at him and telling him to never go in their house again.
The family doesn’t know how he got into the house which makes Dean and Nora worry, ultimately leading them to install cameras all around the house.
Despite the cameras being installed, the letters don’t stop, they keep on coming and coming and the identity of “The Watcher” still remains unknown. After these cameras were installed, Carter’s pet ferret is found dead in the hallway of their home.
Frightened by these letters and strange things happening, they hire a private investigator to find out who “The Watcher” is, and the only way you’ll find out is if you watch it.
This series has a lot of plot twists to it, which makes it a great series. I’m not really into mysterious movies or series like that because I feel as if the plot and mysteriousness take too long to come, but this series gets straight to the point right away, which I like.
This series is “Top 10” on Netflix right now, which can lead you to believe that it is in fact a good series. I recommend you watch it.
I give it a 10/10 rating. 🙂 !!
