Some people don’t even realize we have an athletic director (AD) especially if they’re not an athlete. Meet our very own AD: Coach Banks. It’s his very first year of being the athletic director and he quite frankly loves it.
Though there are highs and lows to almost everything he does, Coach says the highs of the job would be getting to know the students and the low is that he has to learn a lot. This was a job he never saw himself doing. Looking back 10 years ago, Coach Banks says, “I had no idea I would be in education at all.” When he first started his career he was a personal trainer. “I always thought I would go to the big leagues and train all the Olympic and professional athletes,” Coach Banks says.
As a student, I always wonder why the people I look up to got to where they are now. When asked why he came to the education, or sports field, he said, “I always loved being around kids and helping others so I guess the two just went hand in hand.”
Coach Banks obviously loves sports but outside of that, he enjoys photography, spending time with family, and vlogging.
If you know Coach Banks, you’d know that he’s pretty much an open book, but he says, “Something people may not know about me is that I’m HIM!”
