As cliche as it sounds, the students of Santaluces High School’s marching band pour their blood, sweat and tears into their performances. With four hour practices every Monday and Wednesday of every week, football games every Friday, and competitions on Saturdays, the Marching Chiefs can’t help but improve daily.
Marching Band is a sport where musicians play difficult pieces of music and march on football fields in perfect synchronization at a fluctuating tempo. Marching Band consists of woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard.
On October 26th, Santaluces hosted FBA Marching MPA, a competition in which bands from all over the county to perform. They can get a score of poor, good, excellent, or superior, based off of how well they preformed. Since Santaluces hosted the event, they performed in exhibition, which means they weren’t judged publicly, because they performed on their home field. The chiefs got their scores privately, and proudly swept the board with straight superiors.
