Both Democratic candidates, Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff have won both Senate seats. This win prompts a 50-50 split of the Senate meaning Vice President Kamala Harris is able to cast tie-breaking votes.
This election has brought forth a wave of novel candidates with Warnock being Georgia’s first Black Senator and Ossoff being the first Jewish Senator and youngest Senator elected since Joe Biden in 1973.
Democrats have control of both Congress and the White House signifying current President-elect Biden may have an easier time cooperating with Congress to pass legislation.
