The Lantana Library has been where many Santaluces students head to after school to study or to catch up on homework. A new renovation that is geared towards the Santaluces demographic will be the new Teen Room being built. The Lantana Library will be temporarily closing on January 31st for renovations.
“We will be getting new computers in all areas of the library,” said Library Director Susan Kelly. “We will be adding two new study rooms and a new conference room, which may become a pop-up media lab if our budget allows.”
One addition that may catch the eye of many students is the possibility of the branch hosting gaming events.
“We will be getting some new gaming equipment and a new Smart TV in order to eventually host teen gaming events at the branch, once we are able to present live in-person events again,” said Kelly.
For students who regularly go to the Lantana Branch, a bookmobile will be located at Buttonwood Park (5300 Lantana Road) on Mondays, from 4 PM to 7 PM. This will be used for the pickup of materials only.
With teens regularly going to the library and utilizing the teen room, Kelly said they can expect refreshing furnishings, flooring, and updated computers.
“We are hoping to hold more teen events, whether virtually, or eventually in person,” she said.
