Black History Month just recently came to an end. To showcase pride during all three lunches on February 23rd, students openly expressed themselves through poetry regarding their heritage, winning the crowd over as they applauded for each poetry piece. The original pieces captured the attention of the other students. Many of the poetry topics, such as “kinky hair” were subjects that made the students feel as if they were understood and not alone. As everyone gathered around to see the performances they were influenced to attend the Black History Month Memorial after school.

Hey! My name is Isabella Young, but most people call me Bella. I am in 12th grade and within my final year I intend to capture the pure moments of Santaluces High School. I partake in numerous extra curricular activities such as being the Captain of Tennis Team and Cross Country Team, Vice President of NEHS, Founder of Rho Kappa, Webmaster of Key Club, Historian of NHS, and an active member of SNHS. I am so excited for what this new year has to offer and can't wait to see the outcome!
