On Thursday, September 12th I went to the Luke Bryan concert at the South Florida Fair with a group of friends as my first real concert. For the Luke Bryan concert Dylan Schneider, Josh Ross, George Birge, and Larry Fleet opened for his “Mind of a Country Boy” concert and they did an amazing job. I personally really favored Josh Ross out of these four openers for his performance even though it was my first time hearing Josh Ross. My favorite song that he had performed was a song called “Red Flags.” These artists brightened my palette on country music and I now have a wider range for artists. I really appreciate how energetic all of these artists were and when they came back together to perform with Luke Bryan they went over my expectations.
When Luke Bryan came in everyone was screaming and jumping for joy as he played songs from his old favorites all the way up to his newest song that hasn’t even been released yet. Even though it seemed as if Luke Bryan was not feeling his best, he performed the best he could to make this moment special. Luke Bryan is a very interactive performer and at one point was just talking to the crowd. It’s like no one has more fun at Luke Bryan’s concert than Luke Bryan. There are also many misconceptions when it comes to country music and the same goes for metal and rock. It is that mainly only a certain type of people listen to it and if you aren’t in that group you are labeled differently. In this concert you saw different groups of people come together because they do share a common interest and that is their love for country music. I personally love the diversity in different genres and that the one thing that we all have in common is our love and appreciation for that with no judgement whatsoever. So when Luke Bryan played all of his top favorites and his ending song, “Country Girl (Shake it for me)” everyone and I mean everyone was jumping and screaming for joy.
My experience at this concert is way different from everyone’s experience, but my experience was definitely a time I will always remember. I loved the concert and it was one of my first concerts but I do have some advice for you guys to take in. Whenever a concert is outside you should bring a blanket and wear what you will be comfortable in because it gets really hot. Mostly wear shorts. It is more common than you may think to lose your keys so put it in your mini backpack and do not hook it on your pants to have more of a smooth sailing. In my experience, lost keys were one of the events that we had to deal with towards the end of the concert. If possible try eating beforehand so you don’t pay over your own personal desires and just be cautious of the prices of food, merch, or anything else beforehand.
I hope my information helped you for your next music festival or concert on your preparation and also how you feel about certain music. Maybe it will even help broaden your palate for some country music and next time Luke Bryan is in town you will think about it. Most importantly listen to what you like whether it is Rock, Country, R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop, Jazz, Metal, or whatever you connect with. At the end of the day it is what you like and not what someone else tells you to like or influences you to listen too. So broaden your palate and don’t judge the music that you don’t try. Try to broaden your palate and maybe you’ll end up liking country music, so light it up!
