The highly anticipated and greatly delayed game, Cyberpunk 2077 has yet again been delayed. This year alone, Cyberpunk has already been delayed twice, each time with a promise from CD Projekt Red, the game studio that created the game, that it will be released soon. The next promised release date is now December 10th, 2020. Head of studio Adam Badowski and co-founder Marcin Iwiński have sent out a letter of apology with the reasons as to why it was delayed. They claim it was due to the difficulties of “shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC and at the same time.”
The image below is the official letter of apology:
In light of this situation, the dark corners of the internet filled with over-passionate fans have stirred. Many of CD Projekt Red’s employees have started to receive death threats from those ‘fans’ since the delay was first announced. This has caused some of the team members such as Andrzej Zawadzki to post one of the threats aimed at him on Twitter.
Cyberpunk 2077 as a finished product remains to be seen. Whether it lives up to the mass amounts of hype that it has accumulated over time or it completely flops is yet to be determined. However, a line must be drawn, no video game is worth threatening someone’s life, regardless of how passionate the fan is.
