Alexis Nino is a Sophomore that’s part of the soccer team here at Santaluces High School. Alexis has been playing since he was four, and has now become a very skillful player. From running up and down the field to scoring a goal from the halfway line, Alexis is now in his second year on the Junior Varsity soccer team.
He is known for being a very cheerful person. He has helped many kids and uplifted them.
On the team, Alexis plays as a midfielder. His job is to keep the defensive and offensive lines connected and moving smoothly. Midfielders play both defensive and offensive roles and must be accurate passers.
As a kid, he would always watch soccer games on TV with his family. This is what interested him to start playing. Alexis states, “As a kid, I would watch TV and would watch a lot of soccer games and it inspired me. My family also wanted me to play because the sport was family-oriented.”
Playing soccer comes with its challenges; you can get hurt and it’s hard to manage school. However, Alexis has overcome these challenges. He has gotten hurt and still kept playing because it is something he loves and is passionate about.
When asked how he manages school and soccer, he said, “I always stay up late at night doing homework so I can finish it.” Even though it is hard to manage, the long night of training and coming home to do homework, Alexis is doing well in school.
Alexis plans on continuing his soccer career and playing in college. When asked if he plans on continuing his soccer career he stated, “Yes I do, hopefully following my academic career as an architect and playing in a college team.”
