Mitski is a very talented American singer-songwriter who has recently released her new 11-track album, “The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We.” She also recently announced that she will be going on tour in 2024. The new album has raised a lot of excitement for the upcoming tour.
Personally, I loved the album. It has a soothing, calm, melancholy melody and buttery vocals that Mitski has weaved throughout it. It’s perfect for a rainy day. It is definitely close to being one of her best albums, with her albums “Bury Me at Makeout Creek” and “Puberty 2.” You’ve most likely heard the track “My Love Mine All Mine” on her new album. It has been trending and making big waves through all music streaming platforms and social media apps. It is currently number 76 on the Billboard chart.
Alongside releasing a new album, she has also announced going on tour next year. The tour will be going across seven countries, one of her stops including Miami Beach, FL. Her official setlist isn’t out for the songs she’ll be performing during her tour, but she’ll likely be performing songs from her latest album and a couple of fan-favorite songs from her earlier albums. There has been an outpour of excitement for this tour. But, unfortunately, this amount of excitement has left some fans very disappointed. As the presale for tour tickets went live, many fans were let down because they weren’t able to secure any.
I interviewed Wootchell, a student who attends here at Santaluces High School, and questioned her about her opinion on Mitski’s new album.
“I absolutely loved Mitski’s new album,” she said, “I was especially pleased with the way every song sounded different than the next. However, buying the tickets was a struggle.”
I asked her about her experience buying the tickets, and she shared, “I attempted to get them during the pre-sale since I got the code from Spotify, but they were unavailable after 2 minutes.”
I then questioned her about how she felt not being able to secure a ticket, and she said, “I felt really disappointed. To be honest, I didn’t think I would have the chance to get it anyway, but it was still upsetting. But, I haven’t lost all faith yet, I am still looking for resellers that are giving out her tickets.”
Despite many fans being let down due to the ticket-selling crisis, the fans that did manage to get their hands on some will definitely not regret it with the amazing experience they’ll have. Mitski consistently puts on a breathtakingly captivating performance, with her stunning vocals, wholesome audience interactions, and unique choreography!
