Nintendo has premiered their recent Indie World event, showing off numerous independent titles in the works. Unfortunately for those reading for one thing only, there is no Silksong news present within the announcements, despite it recently being officially rated in many countries. Other than that, we have many indie games to be excited for in the coming months!
- Little Kitty, Big City: In this game, you play as a cat trying to make their way back home, but there is no reason not to have fun while you’re out! Explore the big city, discover its secrets, and enjoy the journey instead of focusing on the destination. Get ready to jump in on any major gaming platform this May 9th.
- Yars Rising: Back in the days of Atari, a massive title was Yars’ Revenge, a very cliche sci-fi video game in hindsight. There were attempts to reboot the franchise over the years, but WayForward (the creators of Shantae) are taking a wild spin with this game. While this side-scroller’s connection to Yars isn’t clear right know, you’ll be able to unmask the mysteries of the evil Qotech and yourself later this year.
- Antonblast: On the other side of the spectrum, gamers craving chaos will welcome this messy platformer! Much like WarioWare and the recently popular Pizza Tower, rush through as Dynamite Anton or his coworker Annie and destroy the level around you to your heart’s content. You can join the fun on both PC and Nintendo Switch starting November 14th this year
- Lorelai and the Laser Eyes: In this black & white game, you play as a woman enticed by an older man to participate in some game at a European hotel. You’ll eventually find yourself surrounded by puzzles and mystery, getting more dangerous as time goes on. You’ll be able to explore the hotel and save yourself later on Steam and Switch, May 16th
- Europa: Get ready to explore this vast new world! In Europa, you’ll explore the ruins of a civilization lost to time, overgrown by nature. Using your jetpack, you’ll go farther, complete puzzles and platforming, and learn a valuable lesson. There is currently a demo out now, and you’ll be able to play it later this year.
- Cat Quest III: I’m sure you’ll be purr-etty excited for the latest installment in the Cat Quest series (be wary of cat puns)! Explore the Purribean as a swashbuckling Kitty and your Pi-rats to search for a legendary treasure, the Northern Star! From the games combat to its wonderous sailing, join the meow-tiny on all major platforms August 8th this year.
- Steamworld Heist II: Moving on from cat-astrophically bad cat puns, we have another highly anticipated sequel on the high seas! Engage in turn-based naval combat and optimize your team for the perfect fight! With so many weapons and crew to choose from, it’ll be easy to find a play style that suits you! Like the feline-felons in Cat Quest III, set sail on August 8th for the adventure of your life!
As well, many other games are joining the Switch’s E-Shop, including the following:
- Refind Self: The Personality Test Game
- Sticky Business
- Valley Peaks
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate
- stitch.
- BZZZT
- SCHiM
- Animal Well
- Duck Detective: The Secret Salami
- Another Crab’s Treasure
