As a junior, it may be scary knowing you’re becoming a senior next year. Thinking about what college you’re going to attend, getting a job, moving out and having bills to pay, and etc. can be scary. I am a junior myself and I have less than 2 weeks left in my school year before summer. After that is my final year of high school. I’m more excited than scared (NOT saying that I’m not scared) to graduate and be independent; to see the next chapter of my life and how I handle it. It’s going to feel weird when I graduate knowing that I will never step foot into this school ever again, especially since it’s basically been a daily routine for the past 3 years and I’ve been surrounded by the same people everyday. But one day, this is all just going to be a memory. It’s bittersweet.
I interviewed a couple of our current seniors that were kind enough to give advice to any upcoming seniors for the next school year. The first student kept it short and simple, but helpful, and stated “Go to school and don’t procrastinate.” I know some seniors who started to get “senioritis.” That’s when seniors think there’s no point in coming to school since some of them only have about 3-5 classes, or they’ll keep saying how they are already on track for graduation and that they are basically done, but that’s not how it works. Your attendance at school is a graduation requirement itself and just because you’re a senior doesn’t mean that you’re not going to have work. If seniors didn’t need to do work, there wouldn’t be a senior year.
The other student gave a very helpful and well-detailed response and stated “Definitely save your money because you don’t want to be left with any obligations. Prom, senior photos, and Grad Bash are all expensive. Honestly, everything this upcoming year’s going to be expensive, and college most definitely will be as well, so make sure you save your money for that too. And studying for the SATs is important as well, especially for college!”
Congratulations to the Class of 2026 and good luck to our Class of 2027, because the year will be over before we know it!
