#10 : BTS Taking Over the BBMA’s (Billboard Music Awards) in 2018
In 2018, BTS attended the well known BBMA’s award ceremony. Kelly Clarkson, a major artist, announced different artists that were present at the award ceremony. She stated “Are there any BTS fans here?,” and the crowd went WILD! Every artist was stunned.
#9: BTS MAMA 2019 Dionysus Performance
In 2019, BTS attended and performed at the MNET Asian Music Awards, a major music award ceremony in South Korea, and that performance left a very big impact on their fans and other people watching. This might have been their most memorable performance ever. Although they performed many songs that night, nothing topped their Dionysus performance.
#8: Love Yourself Album
In 2018, BTS released the “Love Yourself” albums, which included Her, Answer and Tear. These albums really helped people who had mental health problems and those who had difficulty loving themselves.
#7: First #1 Hot 100
In 2020, BTS released their first english song “Dynamite”. This song went on to become a worldwide hit. This song led to more global recognition of the group and it even landed them their first #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
#6: 7 consecutive MAMA Artist of the Year Awards : 2016-2022
Every K-POP fan knows how important winning a MAMA award is, but even more important than that is getting the Artist of the Year award. In 2016, BTS won their first Artist of the Year award and also won Album of the Year with their hit album The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever.
#5: Most Awarded Artist in South Korean History (67)
BTS holds the record for the most awarded South Korean artist in history. They’ve been awarded 67 awards in their 11 years as a music group.
#4: “Dynamite” Surpasses 1.9 Billion Views
Remember when I mentioned that their hit song that got them #1 on Hot 100? Well, that same song helped them reach a great milestone again, surpassing 1.9 Billion views. This music video became the first Korean boy group music video to pass 1.9 B views.
#3: Granted Diplomatic Passports
In September of 2021, BTS was granted Diplomatic Passports by then South Korean President, Moon Jae-in. This was a very big milestone for BTS.
#2: United Nations Speech
In 2018, BTS partnered with UNICEF to promote Generation Unlimited, which is a campaign that provides vocational training and education for young people. This was their first time giving a speech for UNICEF, but definitely not their last. Once again they made history with this, being the first K-pop group to speak at the UN.
#1: Grammy Nomination
Finally, #1 on my list is their very first grammy nomination. In 2021, they were nominated for the Best Pop Duo/Group Grammy award. This was very shocking and great news for BTS because with this, they made history once again, becoming the first k-pop group ever to be nominated for a Grammy.
