October is the month of many organizations and awareness. To add to the list is Socktober. Socktober is the month of giving and making a difference in peoples’ lives. Over 600,000 people live on the streets and this year, Kid President and Soulpancake want one million people to unite together and impact these souls.
Both FFEA and SGA are now collecting socks, canned foods, blankets and toiletries till the end of October. To help other families and individuals out, gather your items and donate to Mrs. Kouf [room 3101] or Ms. Monahan [room 4105].
‘’I think this is a beneficial and important thing to do,’’ said senior Kimiyo Karosas. ‘’It is a wonderful feeling to help the people in your community that are in need.”
To spread even more awareness, inform your friends, family, jobs and other schools to donate and hash tag “#socktober” to share your stories. Even as the month of October comes to a close, you can still go local homeless shelters and lend a helping hand.
‘’Unfortunately, people take things for granted such as food and clothes that is not available for other individuals,’’ said Ardit Dullovi, a senior.
