For the first year ever six of Santaluces’ students will be participating in a triathlon. This event is called the Tropical Triathlon and will be held on September 18th at the Lake Worth Beach. The triathlon consists of a .25 mile swim, 13 mile bike ride, and a 5k run. Each person that participates will receive a finishers medal.
The idea to make a triathlon team came from Lake Worth High School’s triathlon team. When Coach Johnson heard about this, she wanted the same thing for Santaluces. Coach Johnson teamed up with Mr. Woods, who also participates in triathlons, to find out how we could have bikes donated to the school.
“As only the second high school in Palm Beach County, I feel ecstatic that our Santaluces student-athletes have been provided the opportunity to participate in such an exiting and popular sport,” said Coach Johnson.

I am so proud of all the Santaluces triathletes who participated in this race! Nadine Burns, who helps coordinate the race, was a HUGE help in helping us secure the funding and the bikes we needed! Bike America assembled them and assisted us the day of the race. It’s hard to believe that a little over a year ago Ms. Burns and I were talking about it — and now it came to fruition! What a dream come true! Big thanks to Coach Johnson and Coach Forsyth. It was a great way to spend a Saturday! LET’S DO ONE AGAIN SOON! We’ll be looking for new members next year!!!!! Go triBE ATHLETIC Club. Swim. Bike. Run!
