With a lot of intensity throughout the game, our boys soccer team were able to win the district finals against Park Vista with a score of 3-2.
In the first half of the game, David Perez scored the first goal of the game. The Cobras were right behind us scoring a goal as well. The chiefs tried using different strategies to take the lead, but no more goals were made and the score remained 1-1 throughout the first and second quarter of the game.
Throughout the second half of the game, the Chiefs and the Cobras were still tied 1-1. It began to rain, making every play a bit harder and the game a bit more intense. The intensity began to grow even more as the Cobras scored, making the score 2-1. The Chiefs began to feel a little nervous, but never gave up despite the weather conditions.
Within the last ten minutes of the game, Anthony Gomez tied us once again, making the score 2-2. With the help of our goalie, Ulysses Gonzalez, we were able to hold back the Cobras from scoring and taking the lead. Suddenly, Anthony Gomez scored again; making the score 3-2! The Chiefs were so excited to take the lead again, but knew that they had to keep their heads in the game until time was called.
Once the time was up, the Chiefs celebrated with excitement and joy! The boys jumped around with excitement and cheered with the crowd. Everyone was able to take pictures with each other and with the districts trophy. When we asked Assistant coach Ariel how he felt about the boys winning, he mentioned that he was “speechless” and that “these boys deserve everything”.
Overall, this was one of the most nail biting games of the season! Congratulations to our Chiefs in proceeding to regionals! Best of luck!
