Spring Fling was hosted for the first time last week, and I have to say, it was a job well done. The dance was great.
It was originally supposed to be in the courtyard, which it was for about an hour and a half until the rain caused for a shift to the sidewalk in front of the gym. Attendees danced like that for about 20 to 30 minutes, and then moved to the lobby of the little theater/lecture hall for the rest of the night. The lobby might seem like a bad place to dance, but it was actually perfect for the amount of people that attended. There were only about 150 people there, so the lobby allowed enough room to dance, but not too much where you felt like you were dancing alone.
The courtyard was decorated in pretty lights wrapped around the trunks of the trees, and there were tables decorated with spring break themed items like little cups filled with sand and glow sticks. The courtyard was blocked off so that we could only dance inside of it. Of course, out of tradition, the Chief head was blocked off so that we couldn’t dance on it. The decorations were very simple, but cute.
The best part of the entire night was the music. There was never a dull moment. He played music that allowed us to dance all night. He played diverse music; from hip hop, to reggae, to techno. That way everyone was able to enjoy themselves. I certainly did.
Besides having to move around, Spring Fling was a great experience. There was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to have fun. It was easy to to loosen up and feel comfortable because of the relaxed environment.
