As if 2020 couldn’t get more historical, Joe Biden was declared the winner of the election against Donald Trump. Biden secured his presidency when Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Pennsylvania flipped from red states to blue states. Biden is currently at 290 electoral votes against Trump’s 214. It’s no surprise that Trump is having a difficult time accepting his loss. Even before the election was called, Trump was saying the election was rigged and voter fraud was the reason why he would have lost. He slowly delegitimized the credibility of the American voting system.
Another aspect of history being made is Biden’s Vice President, Kamala Harris. Breaking racial and gender barriers, Vice President-elect Harris is the first woman and person of color to be elected to such a high governmental position.
Because Trump is failing to accept his loss and blaming it on voter fraud, his campaign is filing lawsuits, all of which are expected to go nowhere. As of November 7, 2020, Joe Biden was declared to be the 46th president of the United States.
