Marvel Studios and Sony’s highly anticipated movie Spider-Man: No Way Home is only three weeks away, and fans have shown their eagerness for the film by breaking pre-sale records.
On Monday, November 29, 2021, at midnight, Spider-Man: No Way Home tickets finally went on pre-sale, and that’s when the firestorm began.
TikTok user @charlie_boy_o posted a video on TikTok stating, “Me staying up to get tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home… And all of the websites crash… *PANICKING*”
Another TikTok user by the name of @zeroisurher0 posted a clip of the Avengers: Infinity War ending where we see Thanos sitting down and looking out into the sunset after snapping away half of the universe with a caption that says, “When you finally get to purchase Spider-Man: No Way Home tickets after 6 hours…”
And they’re only two of the many people proving the excitement and frenzy over this highly-anticipated movie; to see the real picture, we can turn to websites like Fandango and AMC Theaters. Spider-Man: No Way Home managed to break Black Widow’s first-day advance ticket sales in only two hours’ time.
Before this movie, Black Widow held the crown for most first-day advance tickets sales of 2021.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has also seen higher pre-sale numbers than pre-pandemic movies such as Avengers: Infinity War and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Fandango’s Twitter account tweeted out saying, “Check this out, #SpiderMan fans… #SpiderManNoWayHome had Fandango’s biggest first 24-hours in pre-sales since Avengers: Endgame.”
This movie has been highly-anticipated since the ending of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was released back in July of 2019. We saw Spider-Man be exposed to the world as Peter Parker, and this new movie will be the journey of trying to erase everyone’s knowledge of him being Spider-Man.
This movie has also been highly-anticipated because of both the confirmed and rumored cast. Alfred Molina, from the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, will be reprising his role as Doc Ock. Jamie Foxx, from the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies, will be reprising his role as Electro.
Maguire and Garfield have both been highly rumored to be in this movie, as well.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third and final movie in the Homecoming trilogy, and Peter Parker’s actor, Tom Holland, was not sure whether or not he would return to Marvel Studios and Sony to continue playing his role.
“… we were definitely treating [No Way Home] like it was coming to an end, and it felt like it,” Holland stated when asked about his future as Peter Parker when interviewed by Entertainment Weekly.
Luckily for him and for us, producer Amy Pascal recently confirmed with Fandango that Spider-Man: No Way Home will not be Tom Holland’s last movie as Peter Parker.
Spider-Man may be getting another trilogy.
