Overall, I would rate Ruth & Boaz a 10/10, with my reasoning being because I love that the main idea of the story plot in the movie was about God and finding love. At the beginning of the movie, it’s about a girl named Ruth, and at this point in her life she is going through many struggles with her career, finances etc. She is at a crossroads in deciding on her next step of what she wants for her life but a tragic event occurs which sets her even further in her journey and she moves to another town. The town had very God centered people who were welcoming and nice, which eventually led her to new opportunities like getting a job. This is where she met Boaz, a kind, hardworking man who was the owner of where she was working and he immediately found interest in her. They went on dates, flirted, but her past was still lingering around and causing ruin in her new town.
Throughout the story it’s narrated with Bible verses and quotes. This brings more attention to the Christian audience. This movie expresses gratitude and shines light on how bad situations in your life can become good and work out in your favor as long as you keep your faith entrusted to God. It also creates another idea of when God opens another door for you and you entrust him to guide you on the right path, some doors close right behind you. This makes a contrast between a good door and a bad door while also leaving a message for the viewer to be able to comprehend.
Ruth is also going through a grieving process at this time, and this is the time when people feel lost and most vulnerable, but she knew a woman who was like her mom and was grieving as well, but she was really stuck compared to Ruth. She completely lost her faith in the Lord because of the situation that happened to her husband and son. She saw it as how the Lord let this happen to her which is what caused her to move away to her old town, and Ruth followed her. She did not want Ruth to come along with her at all, but on the road she came to a realization that you have to count on those you can lean on during hard times. The church came by her house every day wanting to talk to her and check up on her, but all her faith was lost. She wouldn’t ever answer the door hoping they would go away. She soon began to regain faith as Ruth guided her back.
All in all, this movie is a teaching and learning moment for viewers and shows real life common struggles that many face on a daily basis, making it very relatable. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes romance and wants to explore deeper into their faith, as I see it could be a starting point for many who receive a message from the movie and are in a bad point in their life.
