Athlete Profile: Xavian Charles

Tre Robinson, Staff Writer

Xavian “X” Charles is a Freshman at Santaluces High School. X is a very excellent basketball player and is on the Varsity team as a Freshman. After being one of the first players to come off the bench, X has worked and earned the starting point guard role for the Santaluces basketball team.

Xavian also playing AAU basketball for “Ball4Lyfe” and has won a national championship in tournaments. Despite X being a greater basketball player and one of the best in the class of 2025, he is the starting JV football quarterback. X has an amazing arm and can escape the pocket with his speed and elusiveness.

He looks to continue to play football at the varsity level next year and also is planning on running track in the spring.  He is truly an all-around athlete and takes pride in playing whatever sport he is playing.

The best thing for him about Santaluces is how our school is very connected and is the “family type.” Xavian’s favorite class is hands-down second period, which he has with Ms. Marshall. He says that she is a great teacher. He also enjoys his third period with Mrs. Fouchet, who he considers an amazing math teacher.

So far, his favorite memories that he has made at Santaluces have been with his friend, Tre, meeting new people, and making the varsity basketball team.

During his high school journey, he says that COVID hasn’t really affected him as much, and his plan after high school is to go to college and play college basketball.

I could definitely see Xavian playing at the collegiate level for basketball, but even for football. I think by his Senior year, he is definitely going to be a great role model around our school and should be a key player in both football and basketball.
