Shayna Douse has been not only a strong student but also a Varsity Cheerleader at Santaluces Community High School for all four years of high school. She enjoys English, specifically writing because it’s a way for her to let her imagination run wild. Her favorite song is “5 foot 9”, by Tyler Hubbard. “It’s very catchy and it gives good energy,” stated the cheerleader.

Shayna would love to study abroad for college after graduation. She sees herself having good health and wealth in the next ten years.

When she is not on the court of field cheering for our school, she loves photography. She even has a whole Instagram dedicated to our school baseball team. When asked what she believes is her greatest weakness, she responded, “My biggest weakness is being lazy. I need to create a habit of the things I don’t want to do in order for me to get it done.”

Her biggest strength is that she’s very committed. It helps me be a better teammate to those around me. If there’s anything that her past teams have taught her is valuable life lessons and tips on how to grow as a cheerleader. Her biggest highlight during her sports career is becoming a flyer. It was a dream come true for her.

Besides cheerleading, she also was a part of the Softball and Basketball teams here at Santaluces. Her most successful season was during her Junior year playing basketball.

She looks up to Coach Franco the most because “he is committed to his team players and doesn’t give up.” Her favorite teachers at Santaluces are Mr. Dickerson and Mr. Yohe. The best advice her coaches gave her is “to never give up and always put a smile on your face, no matter what.”

When asked what her advice is for any other athletes here is, “Everything happens for a reason; just go with the flow of the earth’s rotation.”

Her favorite quote is from Luther Burbank: “Listen patiently, quietly, and reverently to the lessons, one by one, which Mother Nature has to teach… so that all who will, may see and know.”
