This pencil drawing, created by Madison Murillo, depicts the British-Canadian poet and musician Matt Maltese. The drawing shows in-depth facial detail while emphasizing both light and shadows. The addition of the teapot calls to his tour in 2022; it adds the touch of whimsy the songwriter has while keeping the portrait’s sincere realism. It was made using a graphite pencil and took Madison roughly an hour to complete.

Heyyy! I’m Noelle-Grace, and I’m in my third year here at Santa. I am so proud to finally be part of The Tribe! Ever since my freshman year, I’ve wanted to join a community like this, and I’m so glad I can say I’ve found my place. I love making new friends, exploring art in all its forms, and (most of all) writing. I’ve been absolutely in love with storytelling and poetry since I was in elementary school. Back then, I was always scribbling down story ideas and sonnets. I can only hope my writing has improved since then… but I make no promises!
